Minimum 12 weeks
Purpose of Position:
To provide additional shelter accommodation to the
MEOW Foundation by caring for foster cats and/or kittens
in your own home
Responsibilities:
- Providing a safe, nurturing and welcoming environment;
- Providing daily care to foster cats and kittens;
- Feeding cats and replenishing water dishes daily;
- Changing bedding;
- Cleaning litter boxes daily;
- Socializing cats and kittens daily;
- Welcoming approved adoption applicants into your home
for adoption showings
Qualifications:
- Demonstrates maturity and is dependable;
- Ability to work independently;
- Demonstrates responsibility and reliability;
- Demonstrates experience and confidence in handling cats;
- Ability to administer basic medications if required;
- Demonstrates a high level if attention to detail;
- Must be 20 years of age or older
Requirements:
- A
spare room with natural light to set up as the foster room - basement rooms could be acceptable if they are completely finished, secure, warm and have natural light;
- Secure doors, windows and finished walls and ceilings - window screens must fit very tightly and not have any tears or rips;
- All owned cats residing in the foster home must be kept
indoors, or supervised outside on a harness and leash or in an enclosed cat run;
- Maintain the foster room properly; fresh water, clean dishes,
litter boxes scooped regularly;
- Timely and prompt return calls to Intake or Adoption Coordinators, or to set up adoption showings - a telephone answering machine is necessary;
- A flexible and available schedule to welcome approved adoption applicants into your home for adoption showings
of your cats and/or kittens;
- A vehicle is an asset but not necessary
Amount of Time Required:
2 to 8 hours per day depending on needs of cats or kittens
being fostered
