Dear MEOW... 2001

Photo of Oliver and his brother.

December 2001

My name is Oliver. I'm the thin dude on the right in the photo. After I was rescued dodging cars in a strip mall, MEOW found me responsible pet owners who keep me safe inside. I have two older brothers who I love to play with all day long.

I have quite the lifestyle at my new home. My female person sews us all cat beds. She has several all over the house for our comfort. She even has three on their bed - very special ones, as she puts heating pads in them for the winter months.

I get brushed every day, nails trimmed once a week and my teeth brushed. Teeth brushing is not my favorite time so I do a lot of fighting just to let them know. I also love to be vacuumed which my mom loves too. I have several scratching posts around the house and lots of toys. Furry mice are my favorite.

My only complaint about my new home is that they will not wake up and play with me at 3:30 a.m.

For all you cats with MEOW or out on the street, don't worry. MEOW has a wonderful volunteer team who will rescue you and find you a great home just like mine.

Oliver

Let's see, cats sleep 12-14 hours/ day. 2 cats x 14 hours = 28 hours. Mmmmm, I guess that means that Brent and I are never going to be able to enjoy the comfort of this new chair that we brought home (for ourselves) a couple of weeks ago!

At least now, Brent and I can have one of our 20 year old love seats back to sit in. One of the cats still occupies the other love seat, while the other cat sleeps in "our" new chair.

Wishing a Special Christmas to all our friends at the MEOW Foundation Photo of Mabyn.

LeMew and Snickers (MEOW name Madison) are the best of buddies, and full of curiosity, love and laughs. Their favorite game is to run full blast at each other and jump up in the air for a tango!

December 2001

Angus and Indiana (MEOW names Zen and Koko) have it all figured out - be as cute as possible and you can get away with anything! Angus, the ring leader, and Indiana, the love bug, have not let stardom go to their heads ... even though they are featured as Mr. September and Mr. November in the 2002 MEOW calendar.

December 2001

Dear MEOW Foundation,

Hello from The Cat Formerly Known As Constance! I have had a wonderful year with Leslie at our warm, safe apartment. Enclosed are photos of me on our balcony during the summer. I had my own rocking chair with my own blanket and unlimited in-and-out privileges during the day. It was pure bliss! I spent the entire summer guarding our apartment from the local family of pigeons and monitoring the general activities of our neighbours - a big responsibility but one that I enjoyed completely!

Leslie has fallen deeply in love with me and is very affectionate when she comes home at night, which is very nice because I get to have personal quiet time during the day (except for Wednesdays, when the cleaners come and I supervise them).

Leslie asked me what I would like for Christmas, and I told her that I would like 100% of my annual salary (for affection, guard duty and bug disposal) to be donated to the organization that took care of me and brought me home to Leslie. Thanks for the great work you do.

Love Katja (MEOW name Constance)

P.S. You can send the tax receipt to Leslie. She handles all our financial matters.

Sway (MEOW name Catia) has snuggled right in. She appreciates the luxury of a handmade afghan.

"If I was a ginger tabby, it would look just like me, wouldn't it?" says Lark.

Lark is proud to be honored on a jack o' lantern, carved by her talented and favorite pal Arielle.

And when she's tired out, Emily's lap provides a warm place to snooze.  Photo of Nellie snoozing on Emily's lap.

Looks like Dallas is having fun in his new home. Toys, toys, everywhere for a well-loved cat.

Meghan and Flossie moved together to a new home. They are now called Hanna and Coco and they are inseparable huggers. Photo of Hanna and Coco (MEOW names Meghan and Flossie).

Photo of Caesar.

Dear MEOW Friends,

Just a little note to say how happy I am to have Caesar as a part of my household. He is such a love bug!

After reading his description on the website, I knew we would be great pals. Caesar is the type of cat that loves to be loved. Purrs and head-butts, grabs your hand when he wants to be petted. Affection should be his middle name! Caesar loves to cuddle ... but not sleep in! Who needs an alarm clock when you have 10-15 lbs of Caesar lying on your chest, kneading and purring?

MEOW is a wonderful foundation. The personal touch really took me by surprise; phone calls, and emails to ensure we are fit for one another. ... Keep up the good work!

Be certain Caesar is well loved, appreciated and enjoying his new home ... it is he who rules the roost!

Many thanks and much appreciation,

Margo & Caesar

Zane and his new cat friend Buddy certainly didn't take long to warm up to each other. It could've been love at first sight.

Photo of Lucky (MEOW name Loki).

Lucky (MEOW name Loki) is so happy she has a loving family and a home to call her own. Her family's love has shown her that she can relax and have fun.

Her family says, "The 2:00 a.m. head butts could be put on hold though!"

Maximus - from the streets and dodging BB pellets to his own rocking chair and a special family to love him! Maximus is a true and happy survivor. (Check out his first MEOW photo for comparison.)

Now he has every creature comfort he needs and he gets everything he asks for. He likes to spin around in his special green velvet chair chasing his tail!

Photo of Maximus.

Photo of Keoke and Nellie (MEOW name Violet).

Keoke and Nellie (MEOW name Violet) make a great pair. They sleep, cuddle, play and grow together! Keoke is still a "covergirl" (she was on the website home page) and Violet thinks the bathroom sink is a fun place.

Photo of Shango (MEOW name Tao) in his new home.October 31, 2001

Dear MEOW,

Tonight the adoption for SHANGO (MEOW name TAO) was finalized.

Please find enclosed a few pictures of SHANGO with his older brother SIMBA. These pictures were taken very shortly after SHANGO arrived on July 14, 2001. As you can see, he won us (and Simba) over very quickly. Since these pictures he has grown almost as big as his brother.

Thank you for bringing SHANGO into our home, and keep up your good work.

Sincerely,
Lori

"Miss January" in the MEOW 2002 Calendar

Here's Havana playing peek-a-boo with her new family. She's the apple of their eye and they adore her. Even though Havana is spoiled rotten, guess what her favorite toy is!

You guessed it ... a cardboard box!

Havana's gentle soul continues to impress everyone she meets.

When MEOW found Meiling, she was starving and trying to support a litter in the ceiling of an office building in an industrial park. Now she's a pampered girl with humans to call her own.

Photo of Meiling.

Photo of Katrina.Katrina is the most wonderful cat we could have asked for! She is loving, affectionate, extremely playful and curious, but always polite and considerate. She is always very careful that we never leave the house without a liberal sprinkle of cat hair on our clothes. She keeps us warm at night by sleeping on our bellies and protects us from the evil bed "mice" that lurk under our covers (our legs, that is). She tells us all about her busy day of sleeping and watching the birds outside every afternoon when we come home from work. She doesn't ask for much - only to be the complete centre of attention at every waking moment, except when she doesn't want to be. We love her dearly and are very grateful to MEOW for rescuing her and bringing her into our lives.

Sincerely,
Kent & Rae

New photo October 30/01 - Katrina's people treat her like a star! Now Katrina sends out autographed 8x10 glossies to her fans and admirers!

February 19, 2002 - Now you can visit Katrina at her OWN website!

Hi MEOW!

Dexter wanted to write to you to say thanks for setting him up with his new mom and dad, Sue and Artos. He is delighted to be the centre of attention in his new home and we are delighted to have him here!

This picture of Dexter shows his outdoor playground on our meshed-in porch. It's not the best angle because it makes his butt look huge, but then again we can't all be supermodels. He's a complete bed hog - if we don't watch ourselves, he will monopolize our pillows - but he also adores chasing Dad's neckties and tearing through his cardboard tunnel.

Thanks MEOW for bringing us together!

Susan

Nusa and Dua (MEOW names Bubba and Skylark)

Our little boyz are a blast! We watch them together and laugh our heads off at their antics. Nusa is the troublemaker. Dua just follows along and ends up getting squirted with water as well! Unfortunately, they've taken a liking to water, so the squirting is not working as well anymore. All in all, they are a complete joy and we couldn't be happier.

Remember Pippa (Mini now) - the 4 pound waif who was starving?

Just look at her now filled out to a healthy 8 pounds! She is a pampered, happy girl now. She'll never have to go without a good meal and a warm bed ever again. And what a stylish bed! One each for Pippa and her step-brother Zinger.

Maria (MEOW name Crescent) is celebrating her 1-year anniversary with her adoptive "mom." She's showing off her fur, made beautiful with regular brushing, exercise, good diet and the love she now enjoys. She is so glad to have left her old life behind - living under a set of stairs with five kittens.

Photo of Molly.

Molly (MEOW name Itsy Bitsy) is not so itsy-bitsy anymore! She's 6 months old and a cherished part of the family.

Once again, Molly proves that you just can't beat a plain old cardboard box for the best fun!

The first thing Billy Bob's new pal says when she wakes up every morning is, "Billy, Billy." Billy Bob is very gentle and loving back and gives the girls lots of hugs and kisses.

Thank-you so much for bringing Phantom into our lives!! She is a such a sweetheart and we love her so much!!! A real easy going cat, she loves to be brushed and to have her belly rubbed. Phantom is settling in very well and everyday we can't help but think how perfect she is for us! We feel so lucky to have our path cross hers. Thank-you MEOW!

Who opened the blinds?

Ralph is the light of his Dad's and my life ... we absolutely adore him!!! I guess we knew it was meant to be when we visited him that first night. After we knelt outside his cage for a couple minutes and talked to him, stroking his back and under his chin, we started to move away and he immediately got up, stretched and moved out onto the floor in between us. He laid down and nuzzled his little face underneath my knee and kept it there. It was almost as if he was saying, "Are you the people that are going to take me home and love me". The memory of it almost brings tears to my eyes. It is hard to imagine that anyone could abandon him, he seems so well socialized. I really feel that he must have got lost or separated from his former owner and they didn't know where or how to find him. It truly is their loss but definitely our gain.

Photo of Ralph - I'm the king of this castle! I'm the king of this castle!

... Your Web master deserves big praise as do all of your volunteers. On that note, I want to tell you how lucky you are to have a volunteer as committed as Esther is. We really enjoyed dealing with her, she is such a neat lady and really seems to love her work. She is very intuitive and has a keen sense about the characters of these cats and how multiple cat dynamics might play out.

Photo of Ralph - I'm up higher than you are!
I'm up higher than you are!

... keep up the good work. It is a pleasure dealing with an organization as caring as yours.

Photo of Joel on his custom-made scratching post.

Joel (MEOW name Lawrence) loves his cradle/ scratching post (throne?) that his new "Dad" made him. Joel is a big boy, but he looks small compared to his sheepskin-lined big post. Joel's family thinks Joel was meant especially for them and they thank MEOW for rescuing him.

Photo of Willy grooming Calvin.Dear MEOW Foundation:

As you can see from the photos, Willy (MEOW name Cinnamon) loves his new brother Calvin. They are constantly licking each other. And when they aren't grooming, they are zooming around the house chasing and wrestling each other. Miraculously they never break anything and they don't even get a scratch themselves. They are truly purrfect for each other! Willy is a major lap cat! He always sits on our laps when we watch T.V. And he loves being under the blankets! He'll sleep with us under the covers for a while and then he moves to his chair beside the bed and falls asleep. He also loves water! Whether it's his water dish or the toilet bowl, he sticks his paw in and splashes water all over the place. It's totally hilarious.

Photo of Willy and Calvin.Thank you very much for letting us adopt Willy. He is tonnes of fun. We will keep you updated as he grows!

Photo of Posh Spice (Heather).Posh Spice (MEOW name Heather) is enjoying her new home. She lives with children who love her and a "brother" Kiko, who is glad to have a playmate to chase around the house. Posh retreats to a lofty vantage point when she doesn't want to be chased! And she shares turns on the children's beds with Kiko.

You may recognize T-bone from the front of the 2001 MEOW Calendar. He's grown up now and grown into the family Barbie house! T-bone and his cat pal Rocco love playing with their little "sister" and her toys.

MEOW called me Noel because I was rescued at Christmas. I was adopted in March.

I live with a "brother" now named Wee-wee. My new parents call me Pancake, and they made us a website!

Crisco

March 18/01

MEOW is very happy that four of our feral cats have been given a new home. On March 18, Jasmine, Crisco, Sally and Sophia have moved to a wonderful acreage with a heated barn full of sunbeams and fresh air. Their new "dad" is a veterinarian who feeds his "barn" cats canned food daily - now is that utopia or what?

These cats had been living wild and were not comfortable with people. MEOW volunteers couldn't touch them and the cats wouldn't even eat until we had moved far away from the food. So we are particularly thrilled that they've been given such a suitable home.
