Adoption Process
MEOW wants to make sure our cats remain permanently in a safe and loving environment when
they leave MEOW. If our screening process seems strict and time consuming please keep in mind
MEOW promotes each cat’s best interest. Please read our Adoption Policies and Process for a
complete explanation of our Adoption Process.
Foster-to-Adopt Program
When MEOW places a cat into a home we want to ensure that you and your new family member
will enjoy many happy years together. Our Foster-to-Adopt program allows you and your chosen
cat to get to know each other for a period of one month before finalizing the adoption contract.
Our goal is to place our cats in permanent homes, but if the match is not suitable MEOW will take
the cat back and work with you to find a better match.
If you would like to adopt a MEOW cat please:
- Take the time to read through our Adoption Policies and Adoption Fees
- Fill out our Adoption Application Form
What Happens Next
- A MEOW administrator will get back to you within 24 hours to acknowledge receipt of your
application. If you haven't heard from us within 24 hours, please contact us again as we probably
did not receive your application
- Your application will be forwarded to an Adoption Coordinator
- An Adoption Coordinator will contact you within 24 to 48 hours of receiving your verified application
If you are having trouble connecting with your Adoption Coordinator please let us know and we can
assist you immediately
- The Adoption Coordinator will discuss your application to help us determine if one of our cats would
be a good match for your home and family. The conversation helps the Adoption Coordinator
understand the type of cat you are looking for and assists them in recommending the most suitable
cat for your home. The conversation may take about half an hour, so please be prepared to commit
that time when your Adoption Coordinator calls you. We look forward to speaking with you
- If your application is approved your Adoption Coordinator will arrange a time with you to come meet
the cats. Our cats are available for adoption on a first come – first served basis
- Once you and your Adoption Coordinator have agreed on a cat, and given the personality and
background of the MEOW cat, the Adoption Coordinator will arrange either:
- a pick up time for you, or if you have a special needs cat, or are a first time cat owner, we can
arrange to delivery your newest family member to your home
- Payment of the adoption fee is due upon pick up or delivery
- Our goal is to be able to place a cat in your home within 1-3 days
During the Foster-to-Adopt Period
Your Adoption Coordinator will do follow-up calls periodically over the next month. If you have any
questions or concerns throughout the Foster-to-Adopt period, your Adoption Coordinator is always
available to help. When the Foster-to-Adopt period is over your Adoption Coordinator will contact
you to finalize the adoption contract.
