I am in a foster home!
Please give a warm welcome to Duckie! Duckie had had some bad luck. He was unable to stay in his former home and it was discovered he was also diabetic. He has spent some time at MEOW in a loving foster home to make sure his medication needs were stable and you can see from his photo, how handsome and healthy he looks now.
He is the type of cat that will probably tolerate another cat with proper introductions, but he would be happiest as a single cat and be spoiled with love and attention.
Did you know that diabetes is much more common in males? It can be easily managed with insulin injections twice a day. The injections are just under the skin, are inexpensive and not painful. While it is ideal to give the insulin injections every 12 hours, life and personal schedules can be complicated. Some owners do a 10 hour and 14 hour or an 11 and 13 hour schedule and their pets manage well.
It is also beneficial to feed diabetic cats a diabetic management prescription diet which is readily available at veterinary clinics.
Do not be afraid of adopting Duckie. He is just like any other senior cat who has a chronic health issue. MEOW will be able to provide any advice and training you need to administer his medication. Please consider giving Duckie the home he deserves.
